Since when did Hamsters start eating meat?

First layout featuring Max - and his meal worm! Yuck! Well, yuck to the meal worm - Max is adorbale. And I like the picture of him. And the page came together quite well - this was one of the pages that started out different in my mind but then my printer messed up my journaling block and so I had to cut it out and then I decided on the white background and it all got so much better because of that! So thank god for mistakes, whether they be mine or the printer's.

Journaling:

• English version: When we bought Max, they told us in the store that we could give him some meat sometimes or some meal worms and because of this his pellet food contained shrimps. Neither of us knew they ate meat - I thought they were like bunnies and ate vegetables. But no - so as a good hamster-mom I bought a bag of meal worms for Max a couple of days later. That was probably the last time however - too much fear factor about standing with a pair of tweezers and pulling meal worms out of a bag filled with cribling, crawling, smelling, orange-brown things and then give them to Max who took them between his paws and held it while it wriggled and moved until he bit it in two and it was quiet... And now, it's not a candy worm he holds in the picture - it's a recently put down meal worm that my cute little hamster has just killed! (December 13th 2006).

  Da vi købte Max, sagde de i butikken, at vi godt kunne give ham lidt kød engang imellem eller lidt melorme, og at der derfor var tørrede rejer i hans tørfoder. Ingen af os anede, at de spiste kød – jeg troede, de var ligesom kaniner og spiste grønt. Men nej – så som god hamster-mor købte jeg en pose melorme til Max nogle få dage senere. Det var så nok sidste gang – der var lidt for meget fear factor over at stå med en pincet og fiske melorm op af en pose fuld af kriblende, kravlende, ildelugtende, orangebrune tingester og så give dem til Max, der holdt dem mellem hans små poter, hvor den vred og snoede sig, indtil han bed den over og den var stille… Og nej, det er ikke en laber larve, han holder på billedet – det er en nylig aflivet melorm, som min lille nuttede hamster lige har slået ihjel… (13. december 2006)
